Lucia's New School

Hey again,

It's a two post week..Jaime's back in action!

Many of you know that Lucia is starting a new school this year.  While we liked the previous school she was in, we thought she would thrive more in a smaller, more collaborative environment.  The Swiss teachers are pretty rigid and strict...well, not unlike the people themselves.  We love the Swiss, don't get me wrong, well, you know.

So, we found this cute little school in the village that has been around for about 8 years:  there are a total of only about 30 kids there, ages 4-10 or so.  The classes are multi-level so since Lucia is pretty advanced in French, she would attend French class with some older kids the same level as her.  In addition to small classes, the instruction is based on project-based work.  For instance, they might do a lesson on the French Civil war and some kids would study the history of it, some kids would do art projects surrounding it, some would act out some of the important themes, etc.

Anyway, we have been loving it so far, as is she!  From day one all her teachers came up to her, introduced themselves and showed her all around the school.  She comes home every day just lit up..she is so excited.

Oh, and she is in cooking class Mondays after school...she brought home the most tasty cookies last week!  Sarah is only waiting for her to start cooking dinner.

At any rate, here is the girl on her first day of school:

And here is a flyer that came home from her school with her class...8 kids...only two girls!

Anyway, that is the new school news.  Stay tuned for more school news...rumor has it that they have a three day ski trip planned!  I am already positioning myself for a chaperone gig for that one.

Until then..be well,

Swiss This

  1. Ahh. She is such an adventurer, a smart one at that! Each year she's met the challenge of a new school, new teachers new kids and just sails on.
Perhaps she will learn to cook crepes like the ones we had in Annecy....ymmmm.
    Proud of our girl!
