Dances of the World

So, you may remember our excitement when we found out that Lucia was to participate in a Dances of the World performance at a local school?  Better yet, her school was chosen to represent Russia?

Our house tingled with anticipation and circled with questions:  would we ever find black boots her size in Switzerland?  (No)  Would she actually dress up in her required uniform? (partially)  Would she leave her mother's side and show the world her swan-like gracefulness and her pinpoint attention to choreography, not unlike the true Russian maestro himself, Michael Baryshikov?  (time will tell)

Here she is, warming up and giving her sash a shake:

She seemed unfettered by all the media attention:

She stared straight into the face of her stiff competition:

Then when she took the stage, it all came together:

And the rest is history.  Notice three things:

One, we did not find black boots so she is easy to spot with her bright, red boots.
Two:  notice the camera pan on the one, lonely hat discarded as the group took the stage.   You probably can't guess whose it is, can you?
Three:  it takes her a bit to warm up, but when she does, notice the lovely Russian kicking we've been enjoying around the house for the past few months!

(Editorial Note:  Please forgive the shaking camera.  I had to jockey with twenty-seven, camera-wielding French parents to film the show, so you can see me shaking to beat hell when I had to shove someone aside.  That's my star, I said in broken French,  mon etoile!  Now get out of the way.  :)  )

Duh, dun, duh, da, HEY!  (insert leg kick here)
