A forth B flew over the pond to meet me there, my good pal Brent. It is hard to describe the Oktoberfest spectacle. Think of the Puyallup State Fair on steroids. Now take all the blue jeans and trade them with lederhosen and drindles. Then add beer. Buckets and buckets of beer served in glasses as big as your head.
Here we are before the trouble started:
I wasn't kidding about the size of the beer mugs:
This is one of the beer "tents". I expected to see large canvas contraptions with several tables scattered throughout. In reality, the tents were these huge, expansive buildings that housed up to 8000 beer drinking revelers at a time. They sang, they danced on the tables and um, they drank liter upon liter of beer. What could we do? When in Munich...do as the Munichans Here is one of the most famous, the Hofbrau House:
Here are a couple of the locals showing off their drindles (the dresses):
And here is one of our favorite waitresses from the weekend and living proof that the Germans do build them bigger.
And this is from the real Hofbrau House, one of the most famous beer halls in the world. This is where Hitler and his cronies formed the Nazi party and changed the course of history.
We had an amazing time. It was something to experience and one that I won't soon forget. Thanks for meeting me Brent...good times!
